Medico-Legal

Microbiology Consulting offers expert professional scientific advice across a range of applied microbiology and Biomedical Science disciplines to assist legal professionals in developing a robust body of evidence to support their case development. Working with a network of applied microbiologists each with over 25 years of professional experience in Biomedical Science, food and industrial microbiology we can assist in the interpretation of scientific evidence and provide support during evidence collection and case development.  Our microbiologists are experienced in preparing CPR Part 35 expert reports and provding evidence in court.  We typically prepare a report in 3 - 4 weeks from instruction.

Microbiology Consulting offers professional microbiology advice to the legal sector primarily in cases of foodborne infection. Recent instructions include Escherichia coli O157 VTEC on open farms, foodborne outbreaks of Salmonella and Campylobacter, and infections associated with international travel and tourism. The vast diversity of microorganisms and their complex interaction with humans, animals and the environment makes every case unique. Please contact us to discuss your individual requirements and we will bring the appropriate scientific team together to support your specific needs.

As expert academic microbiologists we do not routinely examine patients or author medical reports, however our Biomedical Science experts are experienced in receiving instruction in medical negligence cases where identifying a medical expert without a potential conflict of interest can be difficult. The details of every case are different and we are always happy to discuss how we might support your case development without obligation; please call our office team to arrange a telephone conference call.

For pre-action or small cases we are able to provide summary or preliminary reports for a fixed price upon receipt of evidence bundles.  For more substantial cases please request a copy of our fees and terms & conditions.

In receiving your instructions our experts are aware of their obligations and responsibilities under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 with regards to the processing, storage and disposal of persaonl data.

Microbiology Consulting holds appropriate professional indemnity insurance for all medico-legal report work undertaken.
